Sellers have two options for Guaranteed Delivery. With either option, your listings show up to buyers as guaranteed:
If a guaranteed item is delivered late, the buyer can request one of two refund options:
eBay will manage all customer service so that it does not create more work for sellers. Learn more.
Sellers who choose the handling time option are required to guarantee same-day or one-day handling time, and eBay guarantees the delivery date. If an item arrives late even though the seller met their handling time, eBay will refund the buyer’s shipping cost or pay for their return label. If the buyer wants to keep the item and shipping was free, eBay will provide a coupon to be used toward a future eBay purchase. In all scenarios, eBay will handle customer service. Learn more.
Sellers who choose the door-to-door option guarantee their own delivery date based on their ability to deliver to various regions and based on their carriers’ performance. If an item arrives late, the seller will give the buyer a refund. However, if the buyer wants to keep the item and the shipping was free, eBay will provide the buyer with a coupon to be used toward a future eBay purchase. In all scenarios, eBay will handle customer service so that it does not create more work for the seller. Learn more.

Guaranteed Delivery is a new eBay feature coming this summer that will enable sellers and eBay to guarantee delivery dates and will let buyers know when their item will arrive—guaranteed.
Guaranteed Delivery will be available in the US, Guam, and Puerto Rico for now.
Fast and accurate delivery dates are a key factor for online buyers. Today, more than two-thirds of eBay items are already delivered within three days, but many online buyers are not aware of that. Adding the benefit of a guarantee will help change that perception and bring more buyers to eBay.
In addition, sellers say they want to provide more accurate delivery dates, shipping costs, and faster shipping to buyers, based on location. This new feature offers sellers the tools to do that.
Since buyers will be able to filter items by guaranteed delivery date, your guaranteed listings will have increased visibility.
You will also be able to customize your handling time deadlines by day of the week and control shipping costs by region to avoid under- or overcharging. Learn more.
Buyers will be able to filter items by guaranteed delivery date so they can quickly and easily factor delivery time into their buying decision. They’ll also have the added confidence that they will receive their items by the date they expect. Also, buyers will have the added layer of confidence that if a guaranteed item is not delivered in time, they will be recompensed. Learn more
To filter listings by a guaranteed delivery date, buyers simply click a button at the top of the search results and Guaranteed Delivery listings will surface in the results.
If buyers do not use the filter, search results will not change based on Guaranteed Delivery.
If a seller chooses the handling time option and meets their same-day or one-day handling time commitment, eBay recompenses the buyer if a guaranteed item is delivered late.
If a seller chooses the door-to-door option and the item is delivered late, the seller recompenses the buyer. However, in the case that the buyer wants to keep the item and shipping was free, eBay will provide the buyer a coupon to be used toward a future eBay purchase.
eBay will protect the seller and recompense the buyer (except the item cost refund if requested by the buyer) when guaranteed items arrive late due to major and unexpected weather events.
There will be a Guaranteed Delivery page on eBay where buyers can select recompense options if a guaranteed item arrives late. These options will display only for late deliveries as signaled by tracking scans. Once a buyer claims a late delivery for a guaranteed item, the seller will be notified in Seller Hub via a new Guaranteed Delivery dashboard.
Sellers who participate in Guaranteed Delivery will need to maintain high standards of handling, tracking, and delivery performance, in-line with eBay Top Rated Seller shipping standards. If their Guaranteed Delivery transaction standards fall below threshold, sellers may no longer be able to use Guaranteed Delivery. All guaranteed transactions will also be counted in eBay Top Rated Seller calculations.
eBay will remove negative feedback on shipping if sellers meet their handling time commitment but a guaranteed item still arrives late.
No, sellers will be protected from double paying.
We will notify you once this feature is available to try, and when associated new tools are available this summer. Learn more about the new tools, as announced in the Spring Seller Update.
We will notify you this summer when you can opt-in to Guaranteed Delivery. Then, buyers will be able to see your Guaranteed Delivery listings starting later in the summer.
No, there is no cost for buyers or sellers to participate in Guaranteed Delivery.
No, Guaranteed Delivery is an opt-in feature to be used at will by sellers who meet the required shipping standards.
Sellers who are currently above standard and can meet a same-day or one-day handling time can participate in Guaranteed Delivery.
No, if you opt-in your account to Guaranteed Delivery, you select the listings you want to guarantee.
Guaranteed Delivery is dependent on buyer location. Sellers who choose the door-to-door option can use a new rate table tool to specify their delivery guarantee by region. Buyers outside the specified regions will not see the guarantee, so the listing will not display as “guaranteed” to those buyers.
For handling time guarantee sellers, eBay’s delivery estimate will account for buyer location. When the buyer is outside of 4-day delivery range for that particuclar listing, they will not see a guaranteed delivery option.
We recommend you offer same-business day or one-business day handling time, which can help your items sell 8% faster. It's also important to offer multiple shipping options, especially expedited shipping, which can help your item sell 11% faster.
Don’t forget to update existing Good ‘Til Cancelled listings with these two best practices. This way, when we open up enrollment for Guaranteed Delivery, you will be ready to get started.
As announced in the Spring Seller Update, there are two new tools that will complement Guaranteed Delivery: the working days calendar and the shipping rate tables.
The working days calendar allows sellers to define their working days and handling time cut-offs by day, providing more flexibility based on how you run your business. This can result in shorter delivery estimates on the extra days your business works, and prevents you from having to commit to handling and shipping on days you do not work.
The shipping rate tables allow sellers who choose the door-to-door option to define shipping costs and speeds by region. This can result in shorter, more competitive delivery times and help sellers avoid under- or overcharging for shipping. Shipping rate tables are a prerequisite for sellers who choose the door-to-door option.
These two tools will be available this summer. We will notify sellers when they can use these tools.
